The Institute for Personalized Therapeutic Nutrition

IPTN is a not-for-profit collaboration between researchers, academics, practitioners, health decision-makers, and the patients we serve.

As Canada’s first charitable organization dedicated to the advancement of evidence-based, personalized therapeutic nutrition, IPTN serves as a catalyst, rapidly moving new evidence from research to practice through training programs, professional leadership, and engagement.

The adoption of food-based approaches to treat chronic diseases has the potential to reduce unnecessary suffering and health care costs, and dramatically improve health outcomes and quality of life for Canadians. We advocate for therapeutic nutrition as a fundamental and required aspect of patient care.

Our history

In 2016, a group of people came together to advance the idea of personalized, therapeutic nutrition and foster a 'food first' culture in Canada for treating chronic diseases; this was the seed that has grown into IPTN. Since then, we have worked to close the research-practice gap for health professionals by translating evidence into educational programs to support practice change.
